New non-exec Chairman joins Brisant Secure to support future growth

In the first half of 2021 the industry has seen hardware house Brisant Secure assemble three key elements of its future growth engine.

The first was achieved when Brisant secured a milestone investment from the British Growth Fund, and Seb Saywood, a BGF Investor, joined the Brisant board as a non executive director. Then Brisant recruited Clive Burnett, a highly experienced Finance Director from outside the industry with a 20 year track record of supporting organic growth. Lastly, to complete its transformation, Tony Clarkson joined the board as non executive Chairman. He has an impressive top level track record internationally, and in the UK, in construction and other industries.

As one of Britain’s fastest growing businesses, Brisant Secure appeared in the annual Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 for the second consecutive time this year. Its meteoric growth has been driven by two things. One is a series of innovative products that have overturned industry standards and transformed expectations for security, looks, and corrosion resistance, and two is its outstandingly effective marketing.

It’s not unusual for companies to grow fast when they’re relatively small but maintaining a fast rate of profitable growth gets progressively harder the bigger you get. Brisant recognised that to achieve its ambition to become a leading hardware house and maintain its momentum it would need (1) significant funding, plus (2) sustained effort and the knowledge and expertise to avoid or overcome the obstacles to growth.

With a strong background in highly engineered products, Tony has successfully led and grown businesses in Building Products, Automotive Components and Oil and Petrochemical related industries targeting a global marketplace. He has managed business operations in Europe, North America, The Middle East and China. As MD and major shareholder of Pegler, an international heating, ventilating, and plumbing products business, he significantly grew sales and profits through rapid product development resulting in a tripling of business value. Since 2008 he has chaired a succession of businesses in kitchens, bathrooms, air conditioning, roller shutter doors and lighting systems.

“Brisant is a great business, I was immediately impressed by the quality and integrity of its product range and the hard-working entrepreneurial spirit of its people,” says Tony. “I’ve always been keen on products and product development and Brisant has an impressive track record and ongoing commitment to continually developing its range into the future. It’s deservedly a fast growing business and I’m really looking forward to helping that continue over the coming years.”

Nick Dutton, CEO of Brisant Secure, says: “We’re delighted to have Tony as our Chairman. He has the knowledge, expertise, and experience to help us avoid or overcome the inevitable challenges and obstacles in our path to enable Brisant Secure to become a leading hardware house. He’s a very good fit.”

Brisant Secure has been raising standards in the door industry since it burst onto the locksmith scene in 2013 with its ultra-secure Ultion family of locks and Sweet, its suite of beautiful corrosion resistant hardware.
